The Benefits Of Spinal Decompression

There are many benefits to spinal decompression, which has become a major topic of discussion in the world of chiropractic and physical therapy and low back pain these days. There has been a great deal of research and development devoted to non-surgical spinal decompression, although official government agencies have not been looking into it until recently. Many people who have conditions such as sciatica, soft-tissue spinal stenosis, spondylosis, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, and facet arthropathy have seen that their pain is caused by compression of the discs of the spinal, a condition best treated with spinal decompression.

The way that non-surgical spinal decompression works is simple. When a person has a disc in their lower back that is tearing or bugling because the integrity of the disc has been compromised, pain can be very debilitating. The bulging disc must be returned to its normal size and the disc has to be rehabilitated. Spinal decompression places traction on the bulging disc, which lengthens it. This action produces negative pressure within the disc, which causes the disc to pull in nutrients that enable the disc to heal. The bulging that was once producing pain and limiting movement will then be eliminated.

The research that has been done on non-surgical spinal decompression has shown that 20-30 sessions over a period of four to six weeks can produce the optimum results. Few chiropractic doctors and physical therapists say they have seen quicker or longer results from their spinal decompression treatment. In most cases, they say that people with conditions like sciatica, soft tissue spinal stenosis, spondylosis and herniated discs saw a great reduction in pain in a shorter period of time than with other therapies.
