Chiropractic Adjustments For SeniorsSome people may worry about the safety of a chiropractic adjustment for seniors, but an experienced doctor of chiropractic should pose no risk to the health of an elderly patient. In their training, doctors typically learn to use gentler approaches with seniors. Once the patient has been coming to them for a while, the doctor can make changes in their procedures based on the patient's reactions, and either increase or decrease the amount of pressure they use. One of the most common conditions for seniors is osteoporosis, but a weekly chiropractic adjustment can help to improve the body's natural movement for people who suffer from this ailment. Low bone mass and deteriorating bone tissue is caused by osteoporosis, which leads to fractures in the spine, hip and wrist. There are really no medical treatments that cure osteoporosis, but doctors of chiropractic, especially if they are trained in functional medicine, can help to treat the causes. When a doctor gives his/her patients an introduction to treatment, s/he typically provides them with nutritional recommendations to increase bone health, as well. Aside from a weekly chiropractic adjustment program, doctors can also recommend exercise programs that will help support the body's bones, which is extremely important for senior citizens. In the golden years, a doctor of chiropractic can be one of the best allies in the fight to remain healthy and active. And with a reputable doctor, there should be no concern about the safety of the patient.
